Citi recently released a survey of small business owners. In the survey,?38% of respondents describe the current business climate?as ?extremely intense.? In response to the economic environment, small business owners?are reinventing their businesses to stay competitive by overhauling the products or services they offer (47% of those responding); adjusting their infrastructure, such as technology or staffing (24%);?and beefing up their sales and marketing (18%).?Only a?small amount (7%) said they are reducing pricing. Other steps they took to keep business thriving included keeping updated and knowledgeable about their field (88%);?increasing face time with customers (70%); upgrading computer systems (67%); and?increasing their use of the internet and social media (52%).
