MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) ? Three people were shot on Thursday afternoon at a courthouse in a remote corner of northeastern Minnesota, and a suspect has been taken into custody, authorities said.
The shooting happened at the Cook County Courthouse in Grand Marais, Minnesota, the Cook County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
One person was treated and released from a local hospital in Grand Marais and two others were transported to Essentia Health Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota, the statement said.
The names of those shot were not released, nor was a description of their condition. A sheriff's dispatcher had said earlier that one of the three had serious injuries.
The suspect was not among the three who were shot, state public safety department spokesman Doug Neville said.
No other suspects were being sought, the sheriff's office said. A state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigator and a crime scene team have been sent to assist the sheriff's office in the investigation.
Grand Marais is located along the north shore of Lake Superior about 110 miles northeast of Duluth.
The courthouse will remain closed on Friday and reopen on Monday, Cook County said.
